gree. Weiss won numerous grand champion awards with his sheep, hogs, & cattle and in 1960 he won Champion for Farm Mechanics. Eldon was one of only two boys chosen to represent Colorado at the National 4-H Conference in Washington D.C. By the age of 17, Eldon owned a heard of 25 head of Angus heifers and a flock of 30 ewes.
Eldon was a Rancher and Stockman at heart. It wasn't just what he did, but who he was. Over the years he ran hog confinement units, was the foreman for various ranches, worked at dairies, as well as dabbled in sales and other odd jobs. His love for life and agriculture was the core of who he was. He didn't take his family on any of the popular theme park or skiing vacations. No, even his vacations were livestock related ventures. From negotiating a sheep deal on the way home from his honeymoon to a road trip cross country to pick up some 4-H hogs for Kristi or add a few head of Rambouillets to Conrad's herd.
As most ranchers and stockmen do, Eldon had a lot of hardships in his life. He also had a lot of achievements. By far the biggest achievement of Eldon's life is his family. He was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather who lived for his family. Eldon Weiss was dearly loved and will be forever missed.
