Karen Ann Pfeffer

Karen Ann Pfeffer was born July 19, 1953 in Algona, daughter of Leslie and Lorraine (Lappe) Higley. She grew up in Algona graduating from Bishop Garrigan High School in 1972 as class Valedictorian. Karen then attended Iowa Lakes Community College. Karen was married to Mark Pfeffer on November 20, 1982 at St. Benedict Catholic Church. For many years, she worked as legal secretary for several law offices and the District Attorney's office. Karen was a very loving mother and wife, a sister and daughter. She was a passionate shopper and enjoyed playing cards, gardening, and playing the piano. Karen A. Pfeffer died Saturday, March 12, 2011 at the age of 57 following a courageous battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband Mark and her daughter Ashley of Algona; her mother, Lorraine Higley of Algona; and three brothers, Allen and Ruth Higley of Davenport, Don and Viv Higley of Roy, UT, and Mark and Judi Higley of Boulder, CO. She is also survived by three brothers-in-law; two sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Leslie Higley; a nephew, Timothy Higley in infancy; and her parents-in-law, Henry and Verna Pfeffer. [more]
