Mrs. Eleanor Joy Wilson of Port Charlotte, FL, passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at the age of 95.
Joy was born to parents Feador and Lydia Kattner on July 21, 1922 in Lima, OH. She was the youngest of three. Joy attended college in Greeley, Colorado where she earned a Master of Education. She taught elementary school at the Hart Mountain Japanese Internment Camp in Wyoming during WWII and then in West Virginia where she met and married Elmer S. Wilson on August 23, 1948. Joy moved to Florida in 1969 when Elmer retired and moved to Port Charlotte in 1987.
Joy is survived by her son, Tim; three stepsons, Robert, James and Gary; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Elmer; her parents, Feador and Lydia Kattner and two brothers, Wilbur and Loren.
There will be a Memorial Service at Southport Square in Port Charlotte on February 27, 2018 at 3:00 pm. Friends and family are welcome to come and celebrate her life. Donations are encouraged to Habitat for Humanity of Charlotte County, in lieu of flowers.
