John Inge, 82, of Marion, died Wednesday, February 21, 2018, at St. Luke's Hospital after a sudden illness. Gathering of Family and Friends: 4-7 p.m. Friday, February 23, 2018, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids. A Sharing of Memories will begin at 7 p.m. Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Karen; children, Julie (Nick) Tutt, Tracey Herman, and Jonathan Inge; grandchildren, Stephanie Naylor (David Price), Sarah Buyle (Anthony), Stephen Buyle, Shane (Kristin) Herman, Tanya Herman, Chase (Matt) Cornwall, Nichole Herman, and Savanah Herman; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sisters, June (Willie) Wilcox and Louise Jones; many extended family members; and numerous bowling friends. John Robert Inge was born March 15, 1935, in Los Angeles, California, to John and Edith (Randolph) Inge. He lived in California for several years, training and grooming horses for a racetrack. He moved to Iowa, where he met Karen Becker through friends. They were always going roller skating together, especially Sundays after church. He worked several jobs over the years, including Rapids Chevrolet, window washing, office cleaning, and at Century Engineering for over 25 years until their closure. John could always be found at coffee hour in the mornings, watching his judge shows, western movies, Barrett-Jackson car auctions, or at the bowling alley. Bowling was an important aspect of John's life. He coached bowling for over 25 years, and enjoyed traveling to tournaments across the country. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Elizabeth Sue; siblings, Clifton, Rusty, David, Charlene, and Glenda; and friend, Smokey.
