Candice "Candy Ryan

Candice "Candy" Ryan, 69, of Burlington, died 7:45 a.m. Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at her home. Born December 21, 1948 in Keokuk, Iowa she was the daughter of John Hillyer and Lowell "Bud" and Delores "Dee" (Woodall) Helmick. She married Preston Ryan on August 5, 1968 in Stronghurst, Illinois. He died June 1, 1995. Candy worked in production for Winegard Co. for over 20 years. In her spare time she did some cleaning for Joe's Inn, Summer Street Station and The Beat Tavern. Christmas was her FAVORITE holiday! She was an avid collector of Santa's and had hundreds. She loved bowling, weekend motorcycle rides with Preston, spending time with her grandkids and her pets, and spending leisure time in the backyard pool. Survivors include two sons, Charles (Cheryl Lennie) Ryan and Corey (Laci) Ryan both of Burlington; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; her mother, Dee Helmick of Middletown; two brothers, Kevin (Carrie) Helmick of Keokuk and Kenny (Faith) Hillyer of Middletown; two sisters, Penny (Mike) Kemp and Connie (Jim) Long both of Burlington; several nieces and nephews.
