he Sheldon School District.She was united in marriage to Eugene Guenther on December 29, 1957 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. She and Gene farmed west of Le Mars. In 1992, they moved to Le Mars.She was a longtime member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, rural Merrill, where she was active in the WELCA and taught Sunday School for many years. After living in Le Mars for a few years, they became members of St. John's Lutheran Church. She and Gene enjoyed traveling to Germany and taking bus trips for several years. She enjoyed socializing with her friends, attending classmate coffees, and playing cards, especially pinochle. But most of all, they loved the times spent with their family, especially their grandchildren and great grandchildren. The enjoyed attending the sporting events and activities of their grandsons.Survivors include her husband of over 60 years, Gene of Le Mars; a daughter: Sheryl (Neal) Oetken of Le Mars; 3 grandsons: Kyle (Lisa) Oetken of Ashland, VA, and their children, Dylan and Ella; Daniel Oetken (Emily Low) of Le Mars, IA; and Allen (Kelsey) Oetken of Orange City, IA, and their children, Olivia and Henry.She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Mary von Hagel; and a brother in infancy.
