grandsons, Benjamin S. Axelson (son of Elizabeth) and his wife, June, of Liverpool, NY; Noah Cushing-Moore (son of Stephen and Barbara) and his wife, Kristen, of Boston, MA, and two great-grandsons, Stephen James Cushing-Moore; and Sawyer Raymond Axelson. She is also survived by her former sister-in-law Nancy Parker of Williston, VT; her sister-in-law Andree Cobb of Mahwah, NJ; 3 cousins; and 1 niece; 5 nephews; and their spouses, children and grandchildren as well as many friends of all ages. She was predeceased by her daughter, Sandra Elizabeth Moore, and son, Stephen Warren Moore; brothers Russell and William Cobb; and her former husband Robert Moore.
Louise, also known as Ouiser or Ouisie by her family and friends, was a warm, sensitive and big-hearted person. She had her Mother's infectious laugh. Mom had a circle of girlfriends from her school days in Hasbrouck Heights, NJ, which kept in touch and continued to gather for lunch each year. Even though Louise lived in NJ as a child, she often visited family in Walton, NY; and extended family members lived with the Cobb family also. Ouiser regaled us with stories about family and friends all through her life, reciting tales often so that we might remember them. She lived vicariously through others' adventures, and remained funny, curious, cheerful and lovable throughout her life, despite trying losses and challenging health issues. She loved animals, movies, music, nature, and impromptu drives in the country. Louise gave people unusual toys and odd gifts, often buying innovative items "as seen on TV" for loved ones. She collected family memorabilia and photos and many books. We all recall that she cooked so many meals for guests at our camp on Lake Champlain and at our home in Laurel Hill, South Burlington, VT.
Louise's confidence soared during her years working at Agfa, where she shared her sweetness in business calls from Belgium and other places in the world. We admire her resilience in moving on from loss. She enjoyed holidays in VT in the 1980s and 1990s with her adult children at the home of her former husband Bob. In her recovery from her stroke in the late 90s, she did not hesitate to speak in spite of frustrating speech problems; and would often laugh at her own verbal blunders. Her lightheartedness aided her recovery.
In her years at Hudson Valley Rehabilitation & Extended Care Center, Mom would often greet nurses, aids, doctors, staff involved with activities, meals, cleaning and other work with terms of endearment, calling them "Sweetie" or "Honey". Louise's family is wholeheartedly grateful for the thoughtfulness, patience and kindness given to her in all aspects of her care and life by all who tended to her at Hudson Valley Rehab.
