charge in 1943, and the couple moved to Savannah, Georgia. Eleanor worked for Southeastern Storage and Demerge, in their treasury department, selling savings bonds to employees. Their oldest daughter, Faith, was born in Savannah in 1944.After three years in Savannah, the couple lived in California for three years. They moved to Clinton, Iowa in 1949, staying in the Clinton area for 51 years, living in Clinton, and in Elvira. Eleanor worked as a secretary for the Redman Insurance Agency. She later served simultaneously as secretary and school board secretary for the Elvira School District until their daughter, Carol, was born in Clinton in 1961.Eleanor was always highly active in her church, serving leadership roles with the church's women's organizations, and teaching adult Bible classes. Her faith was central to her life, and she worked on church committees and assisted with many events, during their over 40 years of membership in Elvira Zion Lutheran Church. Eleanor and Henry moved to Le Mars, Iowa in the fall of 2000, to be near family. They were members of St. John's Lutheran Church in Le Mars. They made many wonderful friends in the Le Mars area. Henry and Eleanor celebrated 70 years of marriage before his death in Feb. 2013.Eleanor enjoyed arts and crafts. She and Henry belonged to many card clubs through their lives. She had a great love of reading, music and gardening. She and Henry enjoyed traveling all around the United States and enjoyed a European trip as well. She had great love for her family and friends and her home was always a place of welcome and laughter.She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Carol and Ted Hallberg, and her granddaughter Kajsa Hallberg. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Jan Norton of Fulton, IL; nieces: Katrina Norton (sons Brennin and Conner) of Clinton, IA and Suzanne Cruse of LeMars, IA; and cousin Marlys (Gerald) Smith of DeWitt, IA.Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband Henry Otice Edenfield; her brother Glenn Norton; her parents; her daughter Faith Marlaine Mallory; and sister in law Mary Edenfield.
