ROBERT BYNUM JR. MUSCATINE, Iowa - Robert C. 'Bob' Bynum Jr, 64, a lifelong resident of Muscatine, passed away surrounded by his family on Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at his home. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 17, 2018, at Hillcrest Baptist Church. Pastor David McIntosh will officiate. Casket bearers will be Gregg Mandsager, Tom Summitt, Rich Klimes, Gary Karkosh, Joe Bynum, Dan Oberbroeckling, Mike Tobias, and Shawn Thornton. Honorary bearers will be his grandchildren. Burial will take place in Conesville Cemetery. A time of food and fellowship will be held at the church following the committal service. Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. on Friday, March 16, 2018, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Muscatine Humane Society. most recently for SSAB (formerly ISPCO). Growing up, scouting was an important part of his life, achieving the rank of Eagle Scout in 1970. He continued his involvement with scouting with his sons serving as Cub Master of Pack 98 at Washington Elementary School and as Assistant Scoutmaster of Troop 104. He served 12 years as the Fourth Ward Alderman for the City of Muscatine and enjoyed helping the people in his ward and throughout the city. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. Bob will be deeply missed by his wife, Bobbie; three sons, Mike and Abby Bynum of Omaha, Nebraska, Chris and Adriane Bynum of Muscatine, Rob and Heidi Taylor of Fort Carson, Colorado; one daughter, RoJeana and Jason Hudson of Newport News, Virginia; 10 grandchildren, Kaylynn, Ali, Harper, and Ella Bynum, Dylan and Tyler Hudson, and Keelyn, John, Channing and Tristin Taylor; brother, Roy and Elaine Bynum of Aurora, Illinois; sister, Valoree and Tom Tunstall of Memphis, Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
