after serving in the military, he and his family moved to Fort Myers, Florida. There he began a career in the hospitality industry, as the owner and operator of a restaurant and motel. Later in his life, Ervin used his knowledge and skills to begin a career in education where he received his Master's in Education from Florida Atlantic University. He taught at Edison Community College, as an instructor in the hospitality program. Later he pursued a doctoral degree from Ohio State University, where he received a PhD. Upon earning his doctoral degree, Dr. Emery taught in the College of Education at Florida Atlantic University. Dr. Emery then worked with the Florida Department of Education as a Regional Consultant for Marketing Education Programs throughout Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach Counties. Prior to his retirement he worked in an administrative role at the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale. His passions were aviation, cars, and woodworking, yet his hallmark was his steadfast love for God and his family. Memorial services will be held on Friday, March 23rd at 6pm at All Saints Episcopal Church at 333 Tarpon Drive, Fort Lauderdale.
