ment. During his tenure there he also became certified to serve on special teams as a member of the department's water rescue team and the Downriver Hazmat team. Over the years, he received numerous letters of thanks and praise for his contributions on the job from partnering departments with whom he worked alongside, as well as civilians whose lives he helped save. Michael stepped down from his position there in 2015 for health reasons and to spend more time with his children, Cameron & Emma. Michael will always be remembered as an heroic first responder, as well as being a truly caring paramedic and father. His family, friends, and coworkers remember him best for his larger than life personality, contagious sense of humor, limitless generosity, dedication to helping others, and his love for family. He honored, admired, celebrated and elevated those around him and their accomplishments, always overlooking imperfections in everyone but himself. May he now be able to see himself in the same light. Michael is survived by his two children, Cameron Michael Stayton and Emma Rose Stayton, his two sisters, twin Melissa Stayton Gutt (the late Jeff) and Alison Stayton Hernandez (Mario), his mother Barbara Carr, his father Michael Stayton Sr. (and wife Carol), his stepfather, Curtis Moore, his niece Alejandra Hernandez, and loving friend Layna Gresham. There will be a Celebration of Life arranged by Leppert Mortuary for Michael at St. Paul's Episcopal Church (6050 North Meridian Street, Indianapolis) on Friday, March 23rd at 4pm for family and friends. Donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to Michigan Humane Society, Gift of Life Michigan and/or the charity of your choice. Please share memories and/or leave condolences on Michael's guestbook at www.leppertmortuary.com.
