Larry Dean Jellison, 81 of Palo, died Thursday, March 22, 2018 at Unity Point St. Luke's Hospital. Services: 1 p.m., Tuesday, Palo United Methodist Church, by Rev. John Howerton. Military Honors by American Legion Post 679, Palo. Burial: Palo Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Monday 4 to 7 p.m.at the Palo United Methodist Church, and on Tuesday at the church after 12 p.m.
Larry is survived by son, Delmar (Jenny) of Palo; daughter, Dawn (Curtis) Wendel of Olathe, KS; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and sister, Etta Mae Wright Walker.
Larry was preceded in death by his wife Clara in 2002; four brothers, George, Keith, Daryl and Hugh; and sister, Nancy Snelgrove.
Larry was born on April 5, 1936 in Linn County, son of Elmer and Ethel Fillenworth Jellison. He graduated from Troy Mills High School, and served in the Army during the 1950's. Larry was a dedicated Cubs fan and loved trout fishing with his father-in-law and son. He enjoyed reading the Bible, working word search puzzles, and growing and eating delicious tomatoes and peppers every summer. After retirement, Larry would walk the streets of Palo, talking to anyone who would listen, and making many wonderful friends. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
