He served as a Gideon for almost 50 years and as a volunteer chaplain for 23 years with the Texas Youth Commission in Brownwood, Texas. He worked with the New Mexico Baptist Convention and The World Mission Board. At various times, he served as interim pastor, educational director, and interim music director in churches where his family worshipped. Mickey's life will be celebrated 10:00 am on Tuesday, March 27, at Glen Meadows Baptist Church in San Angelo, Texas. He will be buried next to his wife in the Cherokee Cemetery in Cherokee, Texas, at 2:30 pm on the same day.
