Leland G. Paradine, 82, of Waterloo, died at UnityPoint Health-Allen Hospital on March 31, 2018. He was born February 12, 1936 in Coldwater, Michigan; the son of Richard F. and Pearl Van Wormer Paradine. Leland graduated from Battle Creek Central High School in Michigan. He served in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Army Reserve, he received an honorable discharge. Leland married Barbara Jane Trobridge on March 28, 1959 in Waterloo, Iowa. He worked as a Special Investigator for Quality Control at John Deere & Co. for 34.5 years, retiring in 1993. Leland was a Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader, he was a member of Order of the Arrow, UAW Local 838, AMVETS Post #31, and the Republican Central Committee. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; two sons, Ron (Linda) Paradine of McGregor and Jim (Roxanne Preece) Paradine of Elk Run Heights; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Lawrence Paradine of Kansas City, KS, Leslie (Cheryl) Paradine of Jerseyville, IL, and Lucky Paradine of Battle Creek, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Florence Walker and Helen Schumacher; and a grandson, Matthew Paradine.
