Gordon Charles Ebling, 86, of Tacoma WA died April 6, 2018. Gordon passed away in the company of his family after a long battle with Parkinson's. He is survived by his wife Louise (Johnson), children Steve, Wendy and Brian, sister Carolyn Kane, first wife Claudia (Scholz) and six grandchildren. Gordon grew up in Elmhurst IL, son of Everett and Florence Ebling. He studied chemical engineering at Northwestern University, was drafted into the army, attended graduate school at the University of Washington and started work as a Boeing engineer. He worked at Boeing in engineering and management for 35+ years, with a brief foray to other employers in the 1970's. He retired from Boeing in 1995. Gordon was a self-taught woodworker, creating many beautiful pieces of furniture for his family and friends. Gordon could build or fix anything. He also played the clarinet throughout his life, enjoying participating in the Northwestern University Marching Band and the Boeing Band. He enjoyed working in his garden, taking his Miata for a drive (top always down) and spending time with family and friends. He was a loving father and husband, always thinking about others. He will be greatly missed.
Services will be held at Tahoma National Cemetery, Friday April 27, 10:30AM.
A reception and celebration of Gordon's Life to be held after the ceremony, 12:00 noon, Vince's Italian Restaurant, 32411 Pacific Hwy S, Federal Way, WA.
My dad & Gordon were Fraternity brothers. I have fond memories of our two families spending time together growing up. He was always kind, always with a smile on his face. RIP Gordon - you will be missed by many. To Louise and all of Gordon’s family, my deepest condolences.
