James "Roger" Muchow was born October 23, 1951 in Akron, Colorado to Randall and Betty (Plant) Muchow.
Roger was baptized as an infant at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Otis, Colorado, and later confirmed in the same church. Roger attended school grades 1 through 12 in Otis. Roger felt he had a wonderful life growing up in a small town. It was especially great that, as an only child, he had lots of cousins around. He participated in all of the sports and had many fond memories of those "glory" days. He carried his love of sports throughout his life.
Roger married Vicky Nitzel Muchow on June 2, 1973, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron, Colorado. To this union, two daughters were born: Trisha Muchow Uhl and Heather Muchow. Roger was a dad that loved to have fun with his family. Travel and family vacations were a priority in his life,
Roger graduated from Colorado State University in May 1974 with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration. He completed a banking school program at the University of Colorado. Roger worked on the Burlington Northern Railroad summers during college. He continued with them for seve...[more]
for several months after graduation before taking a position with the Washington County Assessor's Office. In late 1975, Roger started his banking career at Citizen's National Bank, later working at Platte Valley Bank and Guaranty Bank & Trust both in Brighton, Colorado. Roger was in various clubs/organizations through the years: Akron Lion's Club, Akron
Volunteer Fire Department, Brighton Civitan, Brighton Optimists, and Brighton Rotary. He also served on the Board of Directors for Eben Ezer Nursing Home in Brush, Colorado and the Board of Directors for South Weld Hospice.
Roger volunteered many hours to assist in building Peace Lutheran Church in Akron, Colorado. It was truly a labor of love. In 1984, Roger moved the family to Brighton, where they were members of Zion Lutheran Church.
Roger was thrilled when Jade was born and he became a grandpa in 2004. His favorite times were anything that involved Jade. Game nights were especially fun.
Due to kidney and heart failure, Roger passed away at Platte Valley Medical Center at 9:34 pm on April 7, 2018. Roger was preceded in death by his parents and George and Mary Tanner. He leaves to mourn his wife, Vicky, his daughters Trisha Uhl (Keith) of Arvada; Colorado and Heather Muchow of Brighton, Colorado; and granddaughter Jade Preisser of Arvada; mother in-law Dorothy Nitzel of Akron, Colorado; brother-in-law and sister-in-law LeRoy and Angel Nitzel and niece Kendra Nitzel of Arapahoe, Nebraska; and many relatives and friends.
Funeral Service will be held, Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at 11:00 a.m., at Zion Lutheran Church Brighton, Colorado. Interment to follow at Otis Cemetery in Otis, Colorado.
