Jesus Christ Prince of Peace Catholic Church and the AMVETS. He loved spending time with his beloved wife and family, children and grandchildren. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved fishing, hunting, shooting tournaments at the Morrison Gun Club and watching the birds and squirrels in his yard. James enjoyed watching the Iowa Hawkeyes, Chicago Bears and the Cubs.
Although he battled Parkinson's disease for several years, he did not lose the fight. He passed away unexpectedly. James was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He touched many lives with his generosity, wisdom and kind heart.
Survivors include his wife, Eleanor; children, Lisa Stevens of DeWitt, Iowa; Jennifer Winger of Ankeny, Iowa and Jeffrey (Wendy) Winger of Winona, Minnesota; grandchildren, Rylee and Alyvia Stevens and Elliana and Remington Winger; siblings, Rosie Stoltenberg of Cabot, Arkansas, Jerry (Jeri) Winger of Green Bay, Wisconsin; Jean (David) Knapper of Lost Nation, Iowa and Mary (Bob) Knight of Orlando, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his son, John Lee at birth and his parents.
