Virginia Pregler, 87, of Dubuque, passed away Sunday, April 22, 2018 at Luther Manor. Services will be private for family, with burial at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
Virginia was born April 12, 1931 in Anniston, AL, the daughter of Calvin and Cordelia Williamson. She married Richard K. Pregler on June 2, 1951 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Dubuque. He preceded her in death on August 29, 2008.
Virginia's achievements were many, including winning the National French Horn contest in 1948, and playing for President Truman at age 17. She was employed at Dubuque Container and at Faber's Music, retiring in 1962. Virginia enjoyed gardening, music, sewing, and stitchery. She was a devoted wife and mother, and cared for 157 foster children throughout her life.
Virginia is survived by her children, Richard (Marie) Pregler, Donald Pregler, David (Patty) Pregler, and Judy Thorpe.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Marie Steve.
