n enjoyed a 39-year marriage which endured until Warren's passing in 1989. Peggy and Warren loved camping, fishing in their beloved Poudre Canyon, and riding their bicycles all over town. They regularly attended the annual meetings of the American Public Power Association where they formed long-standing friendships.
Shortly after graduating from high school Peggy began her career in banking when she joined Poudre Valley National Bank as a teller. She remained a trusted, loyal employee at PVNB through all its incarnations - United Bank, Norwest, and Wells Fargo - until her first retirement in 1989. After Warren's death she returned to her banking career for an additional 5 years. As the bank grew, so did Peggy's responsibilities. Over the course of her career, she held almost every job at the bank, except president; and some would say she was the one who actually ran the bank.
Trinity Lutheran Church was the focal point for Peggy's and Warren's spiritual lives. After Warren's death she continued to be an active member of the congregation. The long-standing friendships she formed at Trinity Lutheran were a source of comfort and support through Warren's illness and those of her parents.
In 1954 Peggy became a precinct leader for the Larimer County Republican Party. For the remainder of her life she was a passionate supporter of Republican candidates for local, state and national office. Over the years she was recognized for her volunteer work on behalf of the Larimer County Republicans.
From the time she was in high school Peggy was a die-hard CSU Rams booster. She held season tickets to Aggie and then Ram football home games for decades. She attended all the Ram football bowl games and one of her prized possessions was her Sonny Lubick bobble-head doll. Peggy and a group of close friends were avid walkers. Almost every day, rain or shine, Peggy and her walking group covered a 4-mile circuit through Rolland Moore Park, stopping off for coffee and bagels before returning home. She often described these walks as cherished moments spent with wonderful friends never to be forgotten.
Peggy's family ties were strong. She was a loving daughter who cared for her parents, Gus and Mary, until they passed. She is survived by her sister Pam Peake (Mike), of Green Valley, Arizona; and brother Larry Skogerson (Lois), of Mission Hills, Kansas. She was preceded in death by two sisters, M. Virginia Fischer and Dorothy Bischoff. Although she had no children of her own, Peggy was loved by many nieces, nephews, and grand- and great-grand-nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Peggy's life will take place on Saturday, April 28, 2018, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 301 East Stuart St. Fort Collins.
