from the University of South Dakota.He was united in marriage to Mineva Steinfadt on January 29, 1950 at her parent's home in rural Hawarden. Early on, they made their homes in Coffeyville, KS, Cedar Rapids, IA, and Minneapolis while Don was working as an accountant for Cargill. In 1959, they moved back to the Hawarden and Akron area to start farming. Don and Mineva farmed and raised livestock for many years. Mineva passed away January 27, 1978. Don continued to live and help on the farm until moving to Mica Hills Estates in Hawarden. In January of 2018, he became a resident of the Akron Care Center.Don was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church, LCMS in Hawarden. Aside from working and helping on the farm, he enjoyed tinkering with engines. But most of all, he loved the times spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He always had candy for them whenever they visited.Survivors include a son: Shaun (Julie) Schneider of Akron, IA; a daughter: Rona (Dan) Meinen of Akron, IA; 7 grandchildren: Jason (Heather) Schneider, Aaron (Amy) Schneider, Erika (Dave) Weinmann, Dana (Crista) Meinen, Courtney (Ben) Burrack, Dustin (Becky) Meinen, and Evan Meinen; 16 great grandchildren; a brother: Wendell (Virlene) Schneider of Akron; two sisters: Jenette Kircher of Hawarden, IA, and Lois (Don) Van Egdom of Sioux Center, IA; and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mineva; 3 sisters: Carolyn Marie Schneider, Darlene Oetken, and a sister in infancy; brother, Jerry Schneider; 2 brothers in law: Arlo Kircher and Earl Oetken; a grandson: Micah Schneider; and a great grandson: Carson Schneider.
