oy in being a school bus driver. At age 24 he was elected and served as a city councilman for Webster City. Alan was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ and served as a Sunday school teacher. He loved kids and was a mentor to many through coaching midget league softball. He was genuine, never forgetting a person's name and often affectionately gave nicknames. Throughout his life he cherished friendships and put people at ease with his quirky sense of humor. He was one to always root for the underdog. He enjoyed boating, skiing and seldom wore pants at home. He will be deeply missed and always be remembered as a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
Those thankful for having shared his life; his wife Jan of 44 years, his children Dena (Marlin) Rohmiller, Katie (Todd) Sonsalla, and Maggie (Joel) Kennedy all of Webster City; his grandchildren Luke and Jake Rohmiller, Oliver and baby girl Sonsalla due in Aug, and Cora, Della and Wynn Kennedy; his sister Laraine Crawford of Webster City, Marti (Jon) West of Minburn, and father-in-law Dean Block. He was preceded in death by his parents, his step mother Myra Maxon; his siblings Amy Maxon, John Maxon; his mother-in-law Margaret Block, his brother-in-law Henry Crawford.
