DANE- Elizabeth "Betty" Mae (Stutz) Markgraf, age 94, passed away at Maplewood Health and Rehabilitation Center, on Thursday, May 3, 2018. She was born in Guilderland, New York, October 2, 1923, the youngest daughter of Mathias and Marie (Kehrer) Stutz.  She graduated with honors from Draper High School in Schenectady, New York, in 1941.  She married Lester E. Markgraf from Dane, Wis., on April 29, 1945 and together they raised five children.As a young woman, Betty enjoyed playing softball and was catcher on the Lodi Susie's Women's Softball Team. She was initiated in Lodi's Queen Esther Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star on December 15, 1954, and twice served as Worthy Matron.    She was a member of the Dane Immanuel Church of Christ.Betty enjoyed gardening, sewing, crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, playing Scrabble and cards, canning, baking and reading. vis of Dane, Wis.; son-in-law David Heyroth of DeForest, Wis.; and by her grandchildren Seth Markgraf, Renee (Chris) Schmidkamp, Stephanie Heyroth, Cole (Krissy) Markgraf, William Katz, Benjamin Katz, and Mathias (Kristin Koehn) Shacter; and by eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lester; daughter, Lisa; brothers Alois and Eugene; and sisters Eleanor, Olga, Virginia and Marie. A private family graveside burial service was held at Dane Immanuel Cemetery.
