n Northfield, MN. Here she was a very active member of the choir, who had the opportunity to travel around the United States performing. She graduated in 1944 with her Bachelors of Arts degree which she used to work as an aide in Des Moines. She met the love of her life, James Medlang at the roller rink in Northwood, and on August 8, 1949 the two were married at First Lutheran Church in Northwood. To this union eight children were born, Charles, Inez, Lois, Morris, Joanna, Marie, Grace, and James Jr.. She and James worked for many years farming, where Lucille raised her children and assisted with the farm chores. James passed away in 2006.
Lucille was a bright, sharp woman - she could tell you historical facts and stories of just about any topic of your choice. Though she was often reserved, she took pride in the knowledge and information she had gathered over the years. In her pastime she could be found watching Jeopardy or racing through a good crossword puzzle in red ink. Lucille found enjoyment in music, whether it be singing by herself, playing the piano, listening to musicians play, or being a leader in the choir, she had a keen ear for a note not in tune. Lucille's greatest joys in life were her family, she was lucky enough to have a small gap between grandchildren and great-grandchildren that there was always an activity going on. The time she was able to spend with them was treasured, they brought her great pride.
Lucille was a member of Elk Creek Lutheran Church, Leah/Rachel Circle, and a longtime member of the Elk Creek Choir.
Those who are left to cherish her memory are her children, Charles (Linda) Medlang of Kensett, Inez (David) Metzger of Burlington, Lois (David) McNutt of Mission, TX, Morris (Jenelle) Medlang of Kensett, Joanna (Joe) Schmidt of Kensett, Marie (Jack) Stumo of Northwood, Grace (Bruce) Pixley of Grafton, and James (Linda) Medlang Jr. of Northwood; grandchildren, Steven Medlang, Michelle Medlang, Shawna Chrisi-Applegate, Brian (Stacey) Metzger, Bjorn (Jenni) Metzger, Kimberly Gonzales, Kevin (Susan) McNutt, Jody (Erich) Muehlegger, Jeremy Schmidt, Jacqueline Schmidt, Jeffrey Schmidt, Jordan Schmidt, Jasmyn Schmidt, Jena Schmidt, Sarah (Adam) Hieken, Jennifer (Matt) Shoars, Jonathan (Elizabeth) Medlang, Christopher (Jeni) Medlang, Laura (Brandon) Mueller, Hannah (Charlie) Lundeen, Tom (Jennifer) Stumo, Ben (Jennifer) Bamsey, Emily (Barnes) Toresdahl, Timothy (Andrea) Stumo, Andria Bewley, Kyle Pixley, Jessica ( Scott) Medlang Butler, James William Medlang, Sonya Medlang; 40 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous extended family members.
