g with the United States Army Reserve. Toward the end of his training program, he met the love of his life, Nancy Lee Haise, on a blind date. Six weeks later, they were married!! Laurence continued to serve in the Armored Tank Division of the USAR for the next eight years. After a whirlwind courtship and wedding in Louisville, Laurence and Nancy returned to Massachusetts where Laurence began his career in teaching. That career would span forty- three years and take him from Ashland High School, Ashland, MA, to Louisville Country Day School, Louisville, KY and then to Park-Tudor School, Indianapolis, Indiana. During Laurence's thirty-three years at Park-Tudor, he taught math and science and coached baseball, soccer and basketball and for twenty-four years served as Athletic Director. Laurence was a member of Second Presbyterian Church for over thirty years. During his retirement, he joyfully served as an usher, a Hospitality Team leader, a Great Banquet leader, a Christ Care Team leader, and as President of the Sages Council. He wanted to bring the youth of the church together with older members and thus began the Golf Cart ministry. A great blessing and joy to Laurence was his participation in his reunion group. Laurence was an avid gardener producing a wide variety of vegetables each and every summer until a move to a home with more shade than sun prompted him to turn his gardening skills to hostas. He was a member of the Hosta Society of Indianapolis. Upon moving to Marquette Manor seven years ago, Laurence began new hobbies, such as reading and writing poetry and learning to play bridge so he and Nancy could enjoy activities together. He also took a major interest in the recreational activities afforded at Marquette. He organized croquet, ping-pong and corn hole tournaments. He served on the Resident's Council as a Third Floor Representative and as President. He took pride in leading a book club and in organizing a monthly movie group called God in the Movies. He loved his singing group Birds on Third. Nothing delighted Laurence more than time spent with his daughter and her family. He attended recitals, sporting events, and all special occasions including the wedding of his eldest granddaughter where he was honored to give the blessing. He loved traveling to sun-drenched beach destinations where he would take long walks with his beloved wife and play catch in the surf and build sand castles with his granddaughters. Laurence is survived by his wife, Nancy Lee (Haise) Treadwell of Indianapolis, IN; his daughter, Cynthia Treadwell Bridges and his son-in-law, Tom Bridges of Wilmette, IL; his granddaughter, Shelby Lee (Bridges) Spector and her husband, Brian Spector of Chicago, IL; his granddaughter, Lauren Marie Bridges of Chicago, IL; his brother, Barry Lincoln Treadwell and his wife Deborah (Carr) Treadwell of Bethlehem, PA.
