irley celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary on June 26, 2005. They were blessed with two sons, Johnny and Larry. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband on May 17, 2006. Shirley loved Family! She was an only child, but she was surrounded by the closeness and love of her extended Krueger, Haverland and Wright Families. Shirley married into a large family with J.A. and immediately took J.A.'s seven siblings and their spouses in as her "adopted" brothers and sisters. Shirley put her Mom's life lessons along with her high school FHA training and college associate's degree to use as she was a wonderful lifelong example running a busy household as a dedicated wife and mother. Shirley was room-mother and an active member of the P.T.A. for her two sons during their elementary school years. While Shirley enjoyed being a stay at home mom, she was also heavily involved in the Lutheran Church Women of America. Shirley and J.A. were charter members of Christ Lutheran Church in San Angelo. Shirley gave back to the San Angelo Community through her service work in the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Later in life Shirley was employed at local grocery stores running food demonstrations and also served as the Co-Secretary Treasurer with her husband J.A. for the East Angelo Lions Club for 23 years. Shirley was not an official "Lion", but she received the Lions Club International Melvin Jones Fellow Award in 2006. Shirley loved holidays and family gatherings, working hard to make every event special and memorable. No event was complete without her German chocolate cakes, her butterscotch oatmeal cookies or her pecan pies. Those family gatherings, holidays and celebrations will forever hold special places in our hearts. Shirley held many titles, but Grandma was one of her favorites. She liked it so much, she was even convinced to raise baby goats in her own backyard on multiple occasions at the request of her grandchildren. Shirley disliked the goats because they ate her flowers, but she bottle fed them daily anyway with a smile. Shirley's eyes sparkled as the years passed and she watched her little family grow with the marriage of both of her grandchildren and the addition of great grandchildren. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, J.A. on May 17, 2006; and her parents, Arthur Carl Krueger and Maurena Haverland Krueger. Surviving immediate family members are son Johnny C. Cox of New Braunfels, TX; son Larry D. Cox of Carrollton, TX; two grandchildren, Tonya and husband Darby Hadley of Austin, TX; and Wesley and wife Reagan Cox of Ft. Worth, TX. Shirley is survived by two great grandchildren; 4 year old Mary Jane and 11 month old Warren Hadley of Austin, TX; Uncle Carl Haverland of San Angelo, TX; and Aunt Pauline Nord of Miles, TX. Shirley is survived by three sisters-in-laws and one brother-in-law along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews including a special niece, Rhonda Manry Williams. Pallbearers will be Wesley Cox, Darby Hadley, Calvin Cox, Chris Owens, Jacob Manry, Jeremiah Manry, Johnny Manry, and Wally Hohmann. The family would especially like to thank the many dedicated doctors and the wonderful nursing staff at Angelo Community Medical Center, Community Medical Associates, and West Texas Medical Associates, as well as the staff, nurses, and nurses' aides at Meadow Creek Senior Care of San Angelo. The family requests that memorials be made to the Texas Lions Camp in Kerrville, TX; the Miles Trinity Lutheran Church; the American Alzheimers Association; or the charity of your choice.
