Beginning in 1973, until her retirement, she was a member of the Midwest Health Science Library Network Assembly of Resources Libraries serving as Faculty Council of Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis. She was a member of the Medical Library Association and Chairman of its Scholarship Committee, 1973-74. In 1966, as the prototype for a statewide medical library network, Indiana University Medical Library Network, utilizing the Indiana State Library's statewide teletype network and document delivery system. Offered direct access to its collection to all Indiana medical professionals, hospitals, universities, and students at the Indiana University School of Medicine Centers for Medical Education. This was the first such medical library network in the U.S. In 1970, she introduced to the IUSML the National Library of Medicine's MEDLARS, an online bibliographic search service. This was the first MEDLARS installation in the Midwest. She contributed several articles to medical library professional journals. Following retirement, Mary Jane volunteered for 15 years at the Indianapolis/Marion County Public Library Book Sale, greeter at the Eli Lilly Pavilion, and clerk in the Gift Shop at the Indianapolis Museum of Art. Recently, she volunteered at the church. Her friends will miss her sense of humor and her "comeback". She loved her home and enjoyed entertaining. Mary Jane traveled a great deal, enjoyed the Indianapolis Symphony, and the theater. She was very proud to be a native of Indianapolis, Tabernacle Church played an important role in her life and her family's. Mary Jane was predeceased by her dear friend, Tibor Toth and survived by her dear friends. Contributions may be made to the Church's stained glass windows restoration.
