John A Engel

John Aloysius Engel, age 59, of Sammamish, WA, formerly of Spencer, IA, passed away on January 23, 2018. Memorial services will be at 7:00 P.M. on Friday, June 1, 2018 at Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City, NE. Visitation will begin at 5:00 P.M., with the family present at 6:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at St. Michael's Cemetery in South Sioux City. John was born April 19, 1958 in Spencer, Iowa. After graduating from Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa in 1981, he moved to Spencer, Iowa for a brief employment at the Spencer Beef Packing Plant before moving to Wichita, Kansas. In Wichita, Kansas he worked for a property developer before working at Midwest Drywall where he was part owner. In 2000 he moved to Seattle, Washington to work with Turner Construction. Since then he worked for a number of construction companies, becoming a senior project manager. He was preceded in death by his sister, Ivy; his brothers, Luke and Scott Engel; and his father, Harold "Chuck" Engel.
