Kenneth Clemens, 79 of Westminster, Colorado, loving husband and devoted father of four, mechanical engineer by trade and aircraft pilot in spirit, passed away May 26, 2018.
Kenny, as he was known to his friends and family, was born October 28, 1938 in Illinois to Kenneth Clemens and Jessie (Edwards) Clemens. Kenny was raised in Colorado Springs where, in July of 1956, he met Shirley Dougan. The two were married the following year. He then moved with his bride to Denver to complete engineering trade school and start their family. Kenny worked for different companies before founding his own firm, Clemens Engineering. A consummate outdoorsman, he loved camping, hunting, fishing, water-skiing, and was a member of a four-wheel-drive club that roamed his beloved Colorado Rocky Mountains. Kenny also enjoyed playing cards, square-dancing, and bowling, and, over the years, belonged to many groups and leagues dedicated to those pastimes. drapery rods in support of Shirley's business, to the garage and workshop where he brought his creations to life. Later in life he found time to indulge his lifelong fascination with military airplanes, building both stationary and flying models, a selection of which are now showcased in The Combat Air Museum of Topeka, Kansas.
Kenny is survived by his wife, Shirley, of Westminster, Colorado, daughter, Audrey (Neal) Hubbell on Manhattan, Kansas, and sons Ken (Missy) Clemens of Keenesburg, Colorado, Dave (Pamela) Clemens of Bennett, Colorado, and Brad Clemens of Westminster, Colorado, as well as seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Kenny was preceded in death by his father and mother as well as his older sister, Cedelia "DeAnn" Duff.
There will be a celebration of Kenny's life on Sunday, June 3rd beginning at noon at Thomas Donelson Park, 4500 Midland St, Brighton, CO, 80601. Dress is casual and sandwiches and soft drinks will be served.
