Esther Bernice Miller was born in Hamilton County on September 24, 1918 to John and Hanna (Teigland) Miller. She was baptized and confirmed at Elim Lutheran Church in Randall. Esther graduated from Randall High School in 1936. She married Clifton Miller on February 13, 1940 at Elim Lutheran Church in Randall by the same Rev. G.O. Paulsrud who baptized and confirmed her. He died on August 3, 2002. Esther was a nurse at the Story City Hospital for 25 years. She was a member of St. Petri Lutheran Church in Story City where she had been a Sunday school teacher, served on committees, sang in the choir and held offices, treasurer, secretary and president of WELCA. Esther enjoyed family, serving, music, baking, sewing and quilting. Esther passed away June 11, 2018 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames at the age of 99. Esther is survived by a son, Richard (Carolyn) Miller of Minden; three daughters, Patricia Anderson of Coralville, Cynthia (Charles) Herleman of Aurora, CO and Robin Jaquis of Gilbert; eight grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
