Eugene John Lynch, 91, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, July 9, 2018 at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha after a short illness. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m., Friday, at St. Patrick Catholic Church by the Rev. Ivan Nienhaus. Burial: Mt. Calvary Cemetery with Military Honors by American Legion Post 298. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Teahen Funeral Home, and Friday after 9:30 a.m. at the church.
Eugene is survived by his son P. Michael (Diane) of Cedar Rapids; his daughters Linda Lynch of Cedar Rapids and Virginia (Michael) Uhlenkamp of Breda; his daughter-in-law Lisa Lynch of Cedar Rapids; nine grandchildren Kate, Dan (Jessica), Kyle (Alyce), Cory (Elizabeth), Chris, Connor, Colin, Cole, and Cami; six great grandchildren; brother Don (Beverly) Lynch; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian in 2015; a son John; brother, Richard and sister, Eleanor.
Eugene was born October 19, 1926 in Cedar Rapids the son of Eugene and Mary Coons Lynch. He gradua...[more]
ed from St. Patrick Catholic High School in 1945, and he served in the Army during WWII in Italy. On June 30, 1951, Eugene married to his school sweetheart Lillian Cunningham in Cedar Rapids. He was as a plumbing inspector for the City of Cedar Rapids, and was a member the Plumbers & Pipefitters Union Local 125 and of St. Patrick Catholic Church.
Eugene loved his family and was a handyman. He enjoyed hunting, John Wayne movies, and MASH. He will be missed by his family and friends.
