Richard "Dick" Kent Butler, 66, of Baxter, Iowa passed away on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at Accura Healthcare of Baxter. A visitation will be held on Monday, July 16, 2018 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Baxter, Iowa. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Baxter. A private family burial will follow in the Restland Cemetery in Baxter, Iowa. Dick was born in Marshalltown, Iowa on April 18, 1952 to Rex and Arlene (Johnston) Butler. He was raised in Baxter and graduated Baxter High School with the class of 1971. Following high school Dick began working for Fredrickson Tire and McWhirter Implement. He married Shaun Casady in 1974 to this union 2 sons were born. He later married Teri Hewitt and together they had 1 son. Dick lived in Baxter his entire life and retired from Colfax Tractor and Parts in 2012. He was always close with his parents. Dick and his boys would go there often and every Friday night they play cards there. He also loved family reunions and always wanted to make sure his family attended them too. his home. He loved being surrounded by his family and friends. He was often seen cruising the town on his golf cart with his dog by his side. Dick was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ, and the Baxter Men's Club where he enjoyed lining up the tractor pulls. He enjoyed pheasant hunting, organized hoarding, spending time with his dog, labeling everything, and talking with people. Left to cherish his memory are his children Shane (Marna) Butler of Baxter, IA, Cory (Amanda) Butler of Melbourne, IA, Joe (Lindey) Butler of Kellogg, IA; grandchildren Marvin II, Colton, Emma, Ridge, Kordell, Erik, Mark, Payge, Brier, Case, and Raelynn; sister Nancy Foreman; sister-in-law LeeAnn Butler; many aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and close friends. Dick was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Mark and Jim, and brother-in-law Darrell Foreman. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family so local donations can be made in Dick's name at a later date. Fredregill Funeral & Cremation Care in Baxter has been entrusted with the care of Dick and his family.
