Rene Elizondo, 72, a lifetime resident of Mercedes Texas went to be with our Lord on Monday, July 9, 2018. He was born March 25, 1946 in Mercedes Texas to Conrado Lopez and Hipolita Trevino Elizondo. Mr. Elizondo is survived by his loving family: Wife: Graciela Elizondo of Mission Texas, Children: Rene Elizondo Jr. of Arlington, Texas, Rhonda Lynn (Devant) Luke of Georgia, Grandchildren: Rene Elizondo III, Mylissa Hernandez, Ramsey Elizondo, Jacob Elizondo, Amanda Luke, Odin Luke, extended children: Joel Garcia, Alex Garcia, Valerie (Frank) Gallardo, extended grandchildren: Andre Gallardo, Francisco Gallardo, Christian Gallardo, 4 sisters; Maria (Silvestre) Moreno of Mercedes, Texas, Diana (Baldomero) Lozano of Mercedes, Dalia (Gil) Loera of Brownsville, Texas, Susan (Robert) Gutierrez of Brownsville, Texas, 3 Brothers: Rodolfo (Elida) Elizondo of Mercedes, Robert (Martha) Elizondo of Mercedes, Texas, Roy (Nina) Elizondo of Mercedes, Texas, also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, family members & friends. will be held on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 from 1:00p.m. to 9:00p.m., with a rosary to be recited at 7:00p.m. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, July 12, 2018. We will depart Rudy Garza Chapel of Peace at 9:30a.m. for a 10:00a.m. mass at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church. Interment will then follow at Mercedes Restlawn Cemetery. Mr. Elizondo proudly served our country and enlisted for basic training in San Antonio Texas on November 23, 1964 and was Honorably discharged on November 22, 1970. He served at the Montana air force base, Guam air force base in the South Pacific. He later came back to the Rio Grande Valley to live his charismatic life; he was loving, charming, witty and had a heart of "GOLD". He is and will be forever missed and loved by all. The Elizondo family is requesting that those of you who wish are welcome to wear a red bow tie during his services and or on hid day if service in which this shall commemorate who he was and his love of bow ties. Funeral services are under the direction and care of Rudy Garza Funeral Home of Mercedes Texas.
