ealestate and automotive sales. He had several repeat customers who turned into friends. The family couldn't go anywhere with Dad without multiple people stopping him to say, "Hello." He was a character for sure and a very generous man. The saying, "He'd give you the shirt off his back," defines him to a tee. He loved treating people to dinners. Near the end of his life he was worried how he could treat his favorite nurses to a steak dinner. He had a fondness for reading, hunting, racecars and Texas Rangers baseball games. If he asked one of his girls what time the game started, he would call up "Bake" (his dear friend Ray Baker) to confirm just in case. He had a sharp wit and very special gift of rhyme. His custom poems were much sought after as he tailored them specifically for the recipient. Ted relied heavily on his faith throughout his life. He was raised Church of Christ and was a member of West Angelo Church of Christ. He also enjoyed attending classes at West Angelo Bible Institute. He loved hanging with several of his friends and we are all very thankful and grateful for them. He had many visitors in the last weeks he was in the nursing facility. We would like to thank all of those who visited and especially his close friends who tirelessly came by and called: Ray and Joyce Baker, John "Speedy" Nolan, Jerry Bunyard, Greg Baldwin, Dennis Bryan, John Rufenacht, Mae Simmons, Robert Talley, Billy Pierce, and Buddy Stapp. And he very much enjoyed visits and long talks with his special friend, Iris Culp. Ted loved his 1957 class and had so much fun at the reunions. He especially enjoyed this last reunion with the "Hooper University" shirt bestowed on him by one of his favorite friends, Norman Marshall. Also, a special thanks to the mother of his children, Linda Hooper, who welcomed him into her home and cooked many meals for him over the last several years for our family gatherings. You all were a comfort to him and to his children. He loved all his friends and cherished the visits. He will be sorely missed by many. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at 10:30 AM at West Angelo Church of Christ with Mr. Portis Ribble officiating.
