able discharge, Edward returned to Melrose Park and began working for the Carpenter's Union as a commercial flooring installer.
On October 3, 1992 Edward was united in marriage to Erma (Van Lent) Marzen in Chicago, Illinois. Together they were blessed with 25 years of marriage.
After their retirement, they retired to the Harper's Ferry area. In his new found free time, Eddie loved salmon and walleye fishing, snowmobiling, hunting, especially pheasant and bear hunting. He was a devoted Chicago Bears fan. In June of 2010 Edward and Erma moved to Mason City and spent many hours enjoying nature and fishing in Clear Lake.
Edward always enjoyed spending time with family and friends at holiday gatherings, and was very family oriented.
Those grateful in sharing in his life are his wife, Erma, Mason City; his children, Paul Zilly, Trego, WI, and Tracey Banks, Verona, WI; step children, Randy (Kari) Marzen, Marion, IA, Laura Wilkens, Des Moines, IA, Daniel Marzen, Hampton, IA, Luke Marzen, Auburn, AL; grandchildren, Joshua Zilly and Dylan Banks; step grandchildren, Nate, Jake, Conner, Chloe Marzen, and Jenna Huether, Adam Meyer, Jordan and Sam Wilkens, Ethan Marzen, Kristie Bales, Jamie Goltz, Chelsea Lorenzen, and Cole Marzen; 16 great grandchildren; and his extended relatives and friends.
Edward is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Lawrence Zilly; and his step son, Ralph Marzen.
