There will be no Funeral Service. She will be cremated and taken to the Phillipines for burial along side of her Father and Mother.
Remy Lapinig Skidmore, age 67, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 19, 2018 at Kingston Hospital. Born in the Phillipines, she was the daughter of the late Crisostomo Lapinig and Advensaria Dampor Lapinig. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1997, Louis John Skidmore of Shandaken. She is survived by five brothers and 12 nieces and nephews.
Remy attended Jimenz Institute and graduated from Immaculate Conception College. She began her work career at National Food Authority in the Phillipines in 1974 as a stock control clerk and advanced to Operations Officer and Warehouse Supervisor II. In July 1984 she took a vacation to New York City and also observed for NFA, the PhilTrade Operations for her employer. It was during this trip that she met her husband Louis and they were married in September 1984.
She opened Skidmore Home Health Aide Services in April 1996 and operated a good business until a car accident in 2003 no longer allowed her to perform the duties necessary. Soon after, her health issues multiplied and she became totally disabled. Her strong faith and determination pushed her through some very rough times for the next fifteen years.
The family would like to thank the staff at Kingston Hospital for the many hours of dedication to her health and their friendship. Also thanks to the many friends who assisted her while confined at home, whether it be a phone call, stop by visit, running to the grocery store or the post office, assisting in completing required paperwork, etc.
