His other interests included fishing, hunting, family fish-frys, polkas, cribbage, wine making (with buddy Ed Kinkema), planning class reunions and renewing friendships, supporting his children and grandchildren in their activities, and going to the family cottage on Big Star Lake.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Sabina Streng; children, Diane Streng and her son, Skyler; Lana (Nelson) Jacobson and sons, Nels, Michael (Claire) and Matthew; Daniel (Holly) Streng and children: Jacob and Anna; William (Hadley) Streng and children, Clara, Joseph and Will; Thomas (Kendra) and sons: Jackson, Adam and Jude; Christopher (Kristi) and children: Madelynn, Lauren, Ashley, Delaney, Julia, Ellianna and Michael; Edward (Audrey) and children: Kyla, Mara, and Dane; Robert (Megan) and daughters: Charlotte and Cecilia; Kathleen Streng; Jennie (Andrew) Straayer and sons, Andrew and Ryan; and Sarah Streng. He is lovingly remembered by the VanHorssen, Wiewiora, Raskiewicz, Tighe, and McDonagh families. He was preceded in death by his former wife, Josephine Streng, his sister, Carol Holmes, brothers-in law, Ted James and Thomas Ash; sister-in-law, Mary Anne Streng; parents-in-law, Peter and Delia Tighe; and niece, Suzanne Mackay.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 27, 2018, at St. Patrick - St. Anthony Catholic Church with Rev. Charles Schwartz as celebrant. Friends may meet the family 3-8 p.m. with a concluding prayer service at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 26, at Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services - The VanZantwick Chapel. Military rites will be accorded him by the American Legion Charles A. Conklin Post # 28 Honor Guard. Interment will be in Lake Forest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Support Broadcasts of Masses at the Cathedral-Diocese of Grand Rapids, Hospice of North Ottawa Community, or St. Patrick - St. Anthony Catholic Church are appreciated.
