Carrie Evelyn (Green) Loghry was born on August 21, 1929 in Athelstan, Iowa the daughter of Jacob Thomas and Neva Pearl (Jocelyn) Green. Evelyn entered into the arms of her Lord on Thursday, July 26, 2018 at the Clarinda Regional Health Center at the blessed age of 88 years. Evelyn attended country school in Athelstan through the 8th grade. She married Leland Lloyd Loghry on April 8, 1951 in Blockton, Iowa. This union was blessed with six children; Bill, Linda, Beverly, Kathy, Larry and Dianne. Evelyn was employed at JC Penney in Shenandoah for some 34 years. Her retirement years were spent volunteering with her church, the Coin Library, Garden View Care Center and with the Clarinda Area Volunteers. She also served on the Coin Town Counsel and worked many election days at the polls. She enjoyed spending time with her family, quilting and caring for her farm animals. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband of 62 years, Leland, son-in-law Kevin Tompkins and brothers Donald and Dick Green. sband Dave, Larry Loghry and wife Jacque and Dianne Nespory and husband Mike; 19 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild; sister Irene White; brothers Gerald Green, Junior (Marvel) Green, Norman (Barbara) Green and Gordon Green; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. May God grant comfort to those who mourn her loss. Celebration of Life Funeral Services will be held at the New Beginnings Church in Shenandoah on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will greet friends at the church on Monday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Memorials may be directed to The New Beginnings Church Children's Programs or the Nishna Valley Christian Church Children's Programs. Two programs that were near to Evelyn's heart.
