Gene Lawrence, 88, of Davie, FL passed away on August 2, 2018 after a brief, intense battle with cancer. Born on May 12, 1930 in Astoria, NY, Gene was the eldest son of Anna Kochan Lawrence and Jean Rasch Lawrence. Predeceased by his two brothers, Fred and Phillip. He is survived by his closest cousin, Rick Weckel and several close friends.
Although a sous chef by trade, Gene owned and operated The Copper Skillet in Coral Gables in the 50's and 60's with partner John Stafford. His passion was playing Florida lottery scratch-offs, and the slots in Las Vegas and Hard Rock Casino in South Florida. He made the best coleslaw on the planet!
He will be missed by all his friends and family. Interment will take place at All Faiths Memorial Park, Casselberry, FL where he will be alongside his brothers. The date and time are currently pending. [more]
