Willis was baptized and confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church in Ponca, where he served as Church Council Chairman for many years and as Chairman of the Building Committee for the new church building. He served on the Ponca Rural Fire Board for over 25 years and was a member of VASA (a Swedish fraternal organization). He enjoyed farming and spending time with his family. He was also passionate about Ponca news and history. Survivors include his wife Janet K. Stading of South Sioux City, NE; daughters, Lori A. (David) Ayers of Champaign, IL and Beth J. (Bill) Herr of Omaha, NE; grandchildren, Carrie (Craig) Dunwoody, Kayleigh (Tyler) Frerichs, Brian Herr, James Ayers and Timothy Ayers; great-grandson, Connor Dunwoody; and a niece, Kim (Tom) Donahue of Sioux City, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Ellen Stading; a sister, Shirley (Gene) Rupp; and a niece, Lori J. Steenhoven. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Salem Lutheran Church in Ponca, NE.
