MONROE- Sherri L. Barsness passed away on Monday, Aug. 6, 2018, after a lengthy struggle with cancer. She was born on Oct. 23, 1963, in Burlingame, Califonia to William and Linda Grandstaff. In 1969, her mother moved her to Alaska. While in Alaska she met her husband, David Barsness, a native of Wisconsin. In addition to enjoying the Alaskan outdoors, their hobbies included breeding German Shepherds and raising game pheasants and pigs. They owned and operated a restaurant in Wasilla, Alaska until they relocated to Wisconsin in 1995. Sherri was a devoted wife, mother and friend. She loved to cook and bake and was a voracious reader of suspense novels. Sherri also appreciated a good glass of Pinot Noir. Sherri is survived by her husband of 26 years, David Barsness; son, Kyle Morawitz of West Virginia; sister, Bridget Boehm-Keller of Florida; step-son, Steven Barsness; step daughter, Wendy (Chad) Biederman of Wisconsin; and step-grandchildren, Devon and Emma of Iowa. She was preceded in death by her brother, Kirk Grandstaff of Minnesota.
