ceived his AA degree and completed his college education at the University of Iowa in 1957. He served in the United States Navy from March 20, 1951 until being honorably discharged in March 18, 1955. He served as a Yeoman 3rd Class during the Korean Crisis state side. He married Janet Morgan on June 29, 1957 at St. Mary's Catholic Church; she passed away on April 29, 2015.
Dave worked at International Paper Company for 34 years, retiring in 1994 as Quality Control Manager.
Dave was a member of Prince of Peace Parish, Knights of Columbus, and Valley Oaks Golf Club. He loved to play golf, and was most commonly known as "Mr. 66." He earned the title of "city champ" and was club champion at Valley Oaks Golf Club numerous times.
Dave is survived by his children: Dean Cavanaugh of Clinton, Deborah (Dan) McChurch of Lebanon, Tennessee, Craig (Jennifer) Cavanaugh of Kennewick, Washington, and Brent (Lori) Cavanaugh of Clinton, 8 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, his sister: Patricia (Jack) Carstensen of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, Dave was preceded in death by his parents, his grandson: Tyler McChurch, and his brother: Robert.
