gree in Gerontology at University of Nebraska-Omaha. Her public service career began in high school working for Kmart in Lincoln, NE. She later worked for the Lincoln Area Agency on Aging in Lincoln, NE for 13 years and again at the Teachers College of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln under Dr. Newman. She then moved on to the Executive Director position of the non- profit Bridges To Hope, helping formerly incarcerated individuals acclimate back into community life after prison. Julia had many hobbies, not the least of which was giving of her boundless love for humanity, primarily for children and the aged. She was an avid quilter / collector and had been a past president of the Lincoln Quilt Guild. An enthusiastic baker and cook, she could be found feeding a small army of blue collar workers or the entire Alzheimer's ward and staff while caring for her mother with the help of her daughter, sister and tag along husband (needed for the heavy lifting). After many years, and declining health, she has passed on her training, caring, and beliefs to those around her and to future generations. She was a firm believer in "Paying it forward".
