on to complete her Bachelor's Degree from Westmar at age 54. She was very proud of that. She learned to swim at age 72 and it became one of her most beloved hobbies. Her bicycle was dear to her heart and she was riding up to ten miles a day at age 79 until she was diagnosed with the disease that finally took her.Her marriage to Tom Mitchell brought her happiness in her retirement and she and Tom had 10 years together before she was again, sadly widowed. It was during these years that she was reunited with her daughter, Pat. This was a lifelong dream and brought Phyllis both the love and peace she sought for so many years.Phyllis loved her garden, books and being outside. Her Iowa hard work ethic was intact until the end and resting was never an option for her until she had done something productive each day. She liked to learn and liked to meet new people. Phyllis truly loved life regardless of hardships or strife - She simply enjoyed being here.She will be lovingly remembered by her children, grandchildren, her brothers, and her many friends and relatives.She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister; and her son.
