Shanette loved the world. She was instrumental in her family celebrating every event. The last holiday, 4th of July was directed by her. She was the ultimate planner from wedding anniversaries to birthday parties to retirement parties. While she was on her hospital bed she made sure her youngest daughter Micah had the birthday party of the year by enlisting friends and family to make it happen. Not only was she determined to have a strong family bond she ensured that friends maintained strong relationships. She never forgot a birthday. Her desire was for everyone to get along. She maintained her individual friendships despite any friction. She loved playing the Hoosier Lottery and going to the casinos. She loved playing cards, board games, and any type of word game. She faithfully read her bible without ceasing. She would often encourage others with the word she had hid in her heart. She went non-stop. She would always have a full agenda. It would be double, triple booked but she was determined to make an appearance. She also enjoyed traveling and spending time with her sorority sisters. She was a member of the Gamma Phi Delta Sorority, Inc. She was a former regional officer in the sorority and served on several committees which allowed her friendships to spread abroad. She was the founder of the annual Christmas gathering for the descendants of Edna Davis Gaines. She was planning the 25th Anniversary up until the week before she transitioned.
