Byron Kay Young, 81, of Hudson Florida formerly of Indianapolis, IN passed away peacefully on August 27th. He was born in Indianapolis to Paul & Jewel (Alexander) Young. Byron was a graduate of Pike High School and attended Indiana University before joining the Army Reserves. He returned to work as an independent insurance agent for Paul R. Young & Sons Insurance Agency. Byron enjoyed serving his community as a founding member the Pike Township Volunteer Fire Department, Little League coach & proud member of the Scottish Right Cathedral and the Pike Lion's Club. He was especially known for making delicious cookies and candies for his family and friends. Byron was preceded in death by his parents, brother Gerald Young (Gladys) and his first wife Helen Hollingsworth Young. He is survived by his wife Brenda Young, his children Susan Kelly Young Finkel, Bradley (Lori) Young, Wesley (Constance) Young, Kim Sheldon and Laura Dresen, fourteen grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4-8 pm on Friday, September 7th at Leppert Mortuary - Nora Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 10 AM on Saturday September 8th at the funeral home with an additional call...[more]
to begin at 9 AM. Interment will follow at Bethel Methodist Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Pike Township Lions Club.
