ting when they were just 4 and 5 years old. Tom loved wood-working, making countless items over the years. Some of his projects were rocking horses, cedar chests, decorative signs and building custom kitchen cabinets.
Tom is survived by his wife of 61 years, Betty Pope; his sons, Tim and wife, Koleene Pope of rural Lewis and Jeff and wife, Debbie Pope of Lewis; 3 granddaughters and 6 great-grandchildren, Angela (Alex) Johnson and children, Korbin and Sophie of Lewis, Samantha (special friend, Kevin Smith) Pope and children, Maddox, Easton, Ashley and Ryker of Atlantic, and Jessica Masker of Lewis; his sister, Ruth OBrien of Newton, IA and brother, Dale Pope of Topeka, Kansas; brothers and sisters-in-law; Ed (Lois) Figgins of Atlantic, Robert (Barb) Figgins of Brayton, Arlene (Dale) Roush of Avoca, Elaine (Leo) Garside of Atlantic, Eilene Toland of Lewis, Jim (Marge) Figgins of Atlantic and Jack Figgins of Atlantic. Tom is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and countless friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law, brother and sister-in-law, Ray and Elsie Pope, sisters and brothers-in-law, Rose and Oscar Johnson, Jessie and Don Watson, Marilyn Pope, Doris and Dick Rice, and Helen and Cecil McNelly and brother-in-law Eugene Figgins.
Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 19, 2018, at the Roland Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 20, 2018, at Zion Lutheran Church in Atlantic, with Pastor Ken Davidson officiating. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery in Lewis.
In lieu of owers, Tom requested memorials be made to the Lewis Fire Fighters and 1st Responders Association or Zion Lutheran Church Golden Years.
