child, Samuel John, on August 5, 1991. Kevin's natural sales ability came through and he was able to achieve multiple national awards for exceeding sales goals with Telecom*USA/MCI/Sprint Communications. Promotions would soon follow with Kevin being awarded an area sales manager position before making the decision to move back to Cedar Rapids to be closer to family. Kevin made the decision to join Bud as a residential appraiser in the family business, Hunter Appraisal Service. He and Bud worked side by side until Bud's death in March of 2012. Kevin continued as owner of the business until this past summer. Kevin was an appraiser for 19 years having been lucky enough to find his passion in his work life. Kevin said one of his great joys was watching his daughter, Megan marry Timothy Bohr and walking her down the aisle at his dad's home in Cedar Rapids. Shortly after Kevin was overjoyed to watch his son Sam become a United States Paratrooper in the Army. Upon returning four years later, Sam joined Kevin as an appraiser creating a 3rd generation locally owned business. Few people are given the chance to find all of their great loves in one lifetime. Kevin, by the grace of God, was given such an opportunity in his union with Suzanne, his amazing children, his work, his extended family and friends, and his hobbies that survived all seasons. His entire family embraced his love of the outdoors and his indelible drive for perfection in his work. Kevin wasn't one to sit around, starting his first business when he was just a boy - harvesting and selling worms found in Bever Park. He could be found hunting, fishing, golfing, and supporting organizations like Ducks Unlimited, serving as president from 1999-2000, and socializing with friends in his leisure time. Kevin was a master angler with a passion for bass fishing tournaments of which he won many. He fished leisurely all over the states (although Suzanne was known to out fish him), he and his family loved traveling together and some of his favorite memories were too wet a line and rip some lips on the Mississippi and duck hunting at Lake Odessa. Kevin was a patient guide and loved to teach others how to master the skills needed to enjoy these hobbies alongside him. In his passing his legacy will live on long after in the lives he touched through his work, his hobbies, his involvement with Veritas Church, his cancer journey and outreach, and the family he leaves behind. His infectious smile and energy lit up every room and each place he frequented will have a little emptiness in it. Kevin was welcomed into Heaven by his parents Clarence F. "Bud" Hunter and Sandra Gertrude Hunter, mother-in-law Alice Jane Glotfelty, like a brother Grunnar Munson, brother-in-law Dave Nelson and great nephew Anderson Ciechanowski. He left behind the love of his life, Suzanne; two children, Megan (Timothy) Bohr and Sam Hunter; brother, John Hunter; sister, Jennifer Hunter; aunt, Diane Tait; father-in-law, Robert Glotfelty; step-mother, Helen Hunter; brother and sister-in-law, Ted and Val Glotfelty; sister-in-law, Gigi Nelson; step-brother, Steve (Jane) White; step-sister, Sara White Miller; niece, Angela (Jon) Gelatt; nephews, Bobby and Louie Glotfelty; niece, Suzanne Rae (Cory) Dripps; nephew, Joey (Gayle) Ciechanowski; nephew, Neil Nelson; nephew, Tate (Michele) Nelson; like a brother, Toby Schaffner; and many great nieces and great nephews. In lieu of flowers, Kevin's wishes were memorials be made in his name to one of the following organizations, Phil's Friends (philsfriends.org) an organization that provides free care packages, weekly cards and prayer to those battling cancer; Veritas CR Student Ministries (vertiascr.church); or UnityPoint Hospice (unitypointhospice.org). The family would like to thank the incredible medical staff from UnityPoint and PCI, the UnityPoint Hospice staff, and all who have helped not only Kevin, but the whole family through this difficult time.
