Hazel C. Strohmeyer, 94, of Dubuque, passed away Friday, September 28, 2018 at Stonehill Care Center.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday October 2, at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Rev. Lloyd Paul Ouderkirk will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may greet the family from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, October 1, at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 3860 Asbury Rd., Dubuque.
Hazel was born September 12, 1924 in Dubuque, the daughter of Sylvester and Ida (Fleege) Kluck. She married Robert "Pete" Strohmeyer on October 11, 1947 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Dubuque. On October 11, 2018 they would have celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary.
In her early years, Hazel was employed with the Ration Board during World War II, and later at Younker's Department Store. She also worked as a secretary at Hempstead High School.
She was a longtime member of St. Anthony Catholic Church.

Hazel is survived by her husband, Robert "Pete" Strohmeyer of Dubuque; her children, Dr. Gary (Nancy) Strohmeyer DDS, of Dubuque, Peggy (John) Thelen of Charter Oak, IA, and Cathy (Ron) Lazum of Cedar Rapids, IA; her grandchildren, Dr. Christian and Jesse (friend Melissa) Strohmeyer, Brad (Heather) and Adam (Shay) Andersen, Renee (Nic) Ernst, and Evan and Meriah Thelen; her step grandchildren, Kiara, Cassandra, and Ashley Lazum; fourteen great grandchildren; her sister, Mildred (Don) Schroeder of Dubuque; and her brothers in law, Richard "Dick" Strohmeyer of Dubuque, and John "Jack" Strohmeyer of Mesa, AZ.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Roman, Merlin, and Elmer Kluck; her sisters, Lorraine (Bob) Stone and Janet Muntz-Miller; and her brothers and sisters in law, Eleanor (Conrad) Pfiffner, Jean (Karl) Schueller, Arlene "Kate" Dawson, Anthony "Knute" (Evie) Strohmeyer, Opal Strohmeyer, Gladys (Leo) Henkels, Rose Strohmeyer, LaVerne "Bill " (Rita) Strohmeyer, Leah (Leo) Stoffel, Eldon "Ex" (Grace) Strohmeyer, and Don (Marge) Strohmeyer.
Memorials may be made to the Hazel C. Strohmeyer Memorial Fund for later donation to her favorite charities.
