Tim Strub, 69, of Dubuque, passed away Saturday, September 29, 2018 at home.
Friends may greet the family from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, October 2, at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home, 3860 Asbury Rd., Dubuque. Services will be at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, October 3, at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home. Fr. Phil Gibbs will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, with military honors accorded by the American Legion Post #6.
Tim was born September 2, 1949 in Dubuque, the son of Robert and Dorothy (Holtz) Strub. He voluntarily enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam where he was awarded the Bronze Star, and was honorably discharged as a combat veteran. He was a 25 year member of the American Legion Post #6.
Tim's first love was his wife of 35 years, Cindy (Huseman) Strub. His second love was turkey hunting! He enjoyed 15 years of retirement from John Deere Dubuque Works. ved his nieces and nephews with such fierceness. They all knew it too! His face would light up when they came to see him.
Tim is survived by his wife, Cindy; brothers,Tom Strub, Thad (Brenda) Strub, both of Dubuque; Tod Strub of New Mexico; his uncle and aunt, Jerry and Kay Holtz of Mississippi; his siblings-in-law, Jane (John) Kiefer of Dubuque, Kay (Al) Muller of Cassville, WI, Richard (Judy) Huseman Jr. of Davenport, IA, Mary (Mike) Oldham, and Cheri (Jacky) Cochran, all of Dubuque; and his parents-in-law, Richard and Rose Huseman of Dubuque; his nieces and nephews, Anthony and Brandon Strub, Shawn (Christina) Hanen and Amy Hanen, Luke Giegerich, Amy Bleile , Nicci (Joseph) Eipers, Melissa (Jon) Behne, Kristina (Jason) Wernimont, Katie (Scott) Schnering, Sherri Brendemuehl, Josh (Tina) Oldham, Justin (Kathy) Oldham, Karami (Ryan) Thomas, Austin and Andi Cochran, Rachel (Jerry) Helwig, Lesley (Brian) Larson, and Michelle (Frank) O'Brien; many great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Theodore "Ted" Strub.
To his niece, Katie Schnering, Tim and the family were beyond blessed to have you there in his final days to ensure his absolute comfort! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
