Lloyd Harold Thiesen was born February 12,1930 to Harold and Ordelia (Goldsmith) Thiesen in Penokee, Kansas. He spent the first eight years of schooling at the Lone Star School, then attended Jennings High School. When he was 17, his family moved to Ione, CO where he graduated from Fort Lupton High School in 1949.
In January of 1951, he joined the US Navy and served four years on the USS Kula Gulf and the USS Tarawa. He married Iva Jean Oldson on January 28, 1953 at the Methodist Church in Loveland CO. They were married 65 years.
After his time in the US Navy he became a bricklayer in Beatrice NE and worked in Fairbury NE, Loup City, NE, and Chamberlain, SD. The job was shut down due to poor weather, so he took his family back to CO. After the move he worked for Leonard Edwards and Ernie Martin, then started his own Masonry Company. Lloyd gave is heart to the Lord in 1973. What a blessing that was! He served on many committees in the church and volunteered for the Fort Lupton Food Bank. Lloyd enjoyed fishing and took several trips to Canada and Alaska. He also enjoyed time in the United Kingdom, Germany, Australia, the Panama Canal, and Argentina.
He is survived by his wife Iva, sons Ron and Mark (Ronda), daughter Paula (Bill), brothers Gene, Larry, Don, and sister Janet. Lloyd was also blessed with several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great, great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Joy Pribble.
Funeral services will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Fort Lupton on Friday, October 5, 2018 at 10AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the First United Methodist Church or the South Platte Historical Society.
